ELIstain Paratest

Staining and concentration of parasitic elements in stools.

Description

Intended Use :

Parasitisme is a type of interactions between species and is the most common way of life. Parasites are living organism that needs other organism to survive and will benefits at the expense of their host. Usually they show a high degree of specialization and their life-stages need more than one host. In order to give an accurate diagnosis of parasitic infection, many elements have to be considered: macroscopic and microscopic examination, clinical manifestations, patient examination, geographical considerations, laboratory tests results (eg. blood hypereosinophilia)…

ELIstain Paratest will allow direct determination, Bailenger concentration and staining of two families of parasites (protozoa and helminthes). These parasites are located in the digestive tract or in the liver bile ducts/ blood vessels and have intestine as exit route.

Principle
The ELIstain Paratest allows performing two tests: direct determination and staining or Bailenger concentration of parasitic elements in stools and staining.

A unique staining solution (Kop-Color solution) is included in the kit. This solution uses a differential staining process in order to improve detection and differentiation of parasitic elements: Parasitic elements are stained in yellow/ yellow-orange/ brownish-yellow on a more or less dark blue background. The contrast allows a fast and improved differentiation of helminths and protozoa.
